Weekly Pieces: May Plans!

Weekly Pieces Spring

May is kind of a special month…

I’ll be doing multiple posts about Tanith Lee because she’s my favorite author and May is the anniversary of her death and writing posts about her books makes me feel better. She wrote over 90 novels and 200 short stories. I’ve read a significant chunk of them at this point but luckily I haven’t read them all. And some of her less recent work is being republished which is very helpful.

My Retro Reread for May is The Gods Are Thirsty by Tanith Lee. One of my top ten historical fiction books of all time, it is set during the French Revolution.

I’ll be editing my second draft and working on other projects I’ve thought of.

It is also the two year anniversary of my blog!

Thank you for joining me so far!

I’m almost done with Anna Karenina!

I finished the first act of my second draft and have discovered that their is a major plot problem which has made me question a key concept. And I got rid of two supporting characters that were redundant. Yet I still love my two leads and a supporting character got upgraded because I’ve been really relating to her side of things in this draft.

Did you have a Happy Easter? If you don’t celebrate Easter, did you take advantage of the candy sale today?!

I started Anna Karenina last week…

I’m finally, actually reading this chunker. I am not loving it but I will get through it.

I am continuing with my novel.

I also have another project in the works. I had a Lord of the Rings dream so I re-watched the three movies and that is where this idea has sprung from, I’m pretty sure. Don’t know where it is going. I am already rooting for my two main characters to get together. But they may take a while to get to that romantic place. Anyway, we’ll see what happens.

Are you reading big books right now? Are you trying to write one? Let me know!

CampNaNoWriMo is in full swing and I got ahead over the weekend but we’ll see if I can maintain my lead!

I’m working a bit more than usual this week so time management might be a little more tricky. But I will adapt!

Also this week is the beginning of Tome Topple Round 3 (April 7th – 20th)! If you want more details, refer to Sam’s (Thoughts on Tomes) channel on Youtube. I will be reading Anna Karenina… I don’t know if I can get it done in two weeks but I’m going to try. My graphic novel choice is a bind-up of D. Gray Man volumes 1, 2, and 3. This has been recommended to me so many times and I’ve finally decided to start the series. This may be my unofficial Tome Topple theme: I’m finally reading the things!

Are you doing Tome Topple or CampNaNo? Other April plans? Let me know!

‘Tis the day before Valentine’s Day… but that isn’t what’s important. The day after is the special day because all the chocolate is on sale!

And writers need that chocolate fuel, am I right? I need it, although my teeth mightily protest.

I’m mostly focusing on writing short stories this month. They take a few different skills than novels. In March I’d like to get back to that NaNoWriMo novel that I’m determined to finish this year. I did pieces of it in January and I’d like to try and link them together in March.

This week I’ll have romantic posts and possibly some really scary Gothic fiction at the end just for a little bit of balance. We’ll see how mushy I feel. I’ve got different types of romances to read and Edgar Allan Poe stories illustrated by Gris Grimly.

Thanks for reading, you’re fabulous!
